The Fulbright Scholarship Program aims to provide different groups of people with the opportunity to enter American universities. The scholarship is provided to economically disadvantaged groups, ethnic minorities and those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.

Since 1946, the United States of America has been providing Fulbright scholarships to thousands of foreign students from 155 countries to study in American universities and academic institutions. The scholarship was established to help artistic, young and talented foreign students to conduct postgraduate studies and conduct world-class research in the United States of America.

Eligibility Criteria Fulbright Scholarship 2022

To be eligible for Fulbright Scholarship 2021, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Please follow the steps below to apply for the 2021 Fulbright Scholarship

• Online Application

To apply for the Fulbright program, you need to collect various materials to help USEFP evaluate your eligibility. All materials must be submitted with the application.

Study in South Korea

• Academic Transcripts and Degrees

Transcripts and degrees of all four-year undergraduate degrees or equivalent degree programs include international three-year undergraduate programs or ACCA. PhD applicants must also submit their master’s or master’s degree and transcripts. If you get your degree before December this year, you can also apply in the last year of undergraduate study.

USEFP looks at your transcript from a holistic perspective, not just your GPA. They will consider the school you attended, the courses you took, and your performance in individual courses. They also illustrate the fact that different universities have different scoring systems. There is no minimum GPA requirement, although most successful Fulbright students do well at the undergraduate level. A bachelor’s degree is only one factor in the evaluation of candidates by the Fulbright Committee.

Study in China

• Take GRE General Test and TOFEL

When submitting your application, you can report your unofficial GRE scores on the day of the test, or if you have received official scores. Each applicant must request ETS to send official score reports directly to USEFP with the code 9388. GRE international test scores are required when applying. The GRE score for engineering and science is 315+, and for other fields it is 310+. No GRE subject test is required.

The minimum GRE score required to apply for Fulbright is 138 points for oral and 136 points for quantitative. But generally speaking, the GRE scores of admitted applicants are in the top one percent. If you take the GRE test multiple times, you may report your best score, and Fulbright will only look at this score. TOEFL is not required when submitting the application. If you are notified for an interview, you will have to take the TOEFL test. IELTS test is not accepted.

• Prepare Two Essays

There are two essays for the Fulbright application. Each essay must be written in the space provided in the application form, which approximates to 800 words. Don’t over craft your essays; just write in a clear language so that the Fulbright panel that doesn’t know your world can understand you better. Before starting the essays you are going to need to figure out a marketing strategy for yourself. Successful applicants generally take 4-6 weeks writing and perfecting their essays.

Fully Funded Scholarship in the United Kingdom (UK)

• Recommendation letters are required

Before the application deadline, you need to have three recommendation letters to submit with your application. You can have 3 academic recommendation letters, or 2 academic recommendation letters and 1 professional recommendation letter, or 2 professional recommendation letters and 1 academic recommendation letter. In other words, a letter of academic recommendation is required. Your referee needs to fill out the application form, then sign, stamp and seal the envelope. Once you submit your online application, your recommender will send an online form via email.

There is no fixed formula for “who writes the recommendation letter”. Sometimes it is impossible to get your employer to write a recommendation letter for you-USEFP does not want to jeopardize your current position during the application process. Find someone who knows you enough to answer. This could be a previous employer, teacher or researcher.

• Prepare Academic Resume

A current and most up-to-date resume should be added to the space provided on the application form. 

• Submit Online Application

There is no application fee for the Fulbright program. Applications must be submitted online.

• Interview

After your written application is submitted and reviewed, you may be invited to participate in a group interview. The interview decision is made in mid-September, and the interview takes place in October. If you do not receive a USEFP message before October, it will automatically imply that you have not been selected. The interview is a positive indicator of selection, but it is not a guarantee of admission. The interview time is 15 to 30 minutes and will be conducted by a group of 4 people. You must bring your TOEFL registration certificate on the day of the interview. It is not mandatory to take the TOEFL test before the interview date.
