Fully Funded Hong Kong Ph.D Fellowship

Hong Kong Government offers fully funded Ph.D fellowships for International students to get started their Ph.D at one of top University in Hong Kong.

Scholarship award

The scholarship provides each winner with a subsidy of HK$322,800 (approximately US$41,400) and HK$13,500 (approximately US$1,730) for conference and research travel expenses for a period of no more than three years. In the 2022/23 academic year*, 300 doctoral scholarships will be awarded. For students who need more than three years to complete a doctoral degree, the selected university can provide additional support. For details, please contact the relevant university directly.

How to apply

Eligible applicants must submit an online preliminary application through the Hong Kong Doctoral Scholarship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES) on or before December 1, 2021 (12:00:00 Hong Kong time), and obtain the HKPFSES reference number. Then submit a PhD admission application.

Applicants can choose up to two courses/departments in one or two universities to study doctoral courses under HKPFS 2022/23. They should meet the admission requirements of the selected university and course.

As the application deadline of some universities may be immediately after the deadline for the initial application, applicants should submit their initial application as soon as possible to ensure that there is enough time to submit the application to the university.

After completing the initial application, applicants must submit a complete application for the doctoral program to the relevant university before the deadline of the relevant university, and indicate the reference number of the Hong Kong Professional Program. For information on doctoral programs, doctoral admission requirements, application methods, rules and regulations of each institution, etc., please refer to the information of each institution and doctoral program.
